WebJun 3, 2013 · glycol ether is used to remove nitro. just buy 3m fine cut at any autoparts store, for something lighter use 3m swirl remover then 3m hand glaze. the only safe thing for nitro is wet sanding with mineral spirits/naptha or buffing compound. don't use water don't use alcohols. also there is a sandpaper called micomesh. I use an old hand held die grinder with a speed controller and 8" (soon to be 12") cotton buffs chucked into a vice on the end of my bench. I can also use it by hand which is a nice option sometimes.
