WebJan 1, 2024 · Locked-in syndrome has been reported in all ages between the first and eighth decades of life. Average age of onset is between 33 and 46 years. Men are more often affected than women. Survival Mortality is greatest in the first 4 months after onset and greater in vascular cases than in those with other causes.
